The Taming of the Shrew
(or working with a PC mouse)We use a device called a "mouse" to activate the functions of the Windows programs. Using a mouse requires a little bit of eye-hand coordination. You must watch the screen as you move the mouse around to control where you want it to point. The PC mouse has two clickers (and some have a scroll button).
- Hold your mouse pointer over an icon or button and a "tool tip" will let you know what it is for.
- Double left click on any icon will send a command to execute the option.
- Single left click on a button will activate its function.
- A single right click on anything will call up a menu listing options for that particular item.
As you work with the various programs, you will become accustomed to manipulating the mouse. If you feel you to need practice with the mouse, try playing computer "solitaire." It is a simple game to practice mouse manipulations Click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen and scroll up to Programs ->Accessories -.> Games -> Solitaire
