Adventure*
A Lesson in Gathering Facts
1- Where does the story begin?
2- A young boy named Ryan takes a journey far away from home. Where does he go and why?
3- Measure the distance in miles from Bryan's home to his destination.
4- What is Ryan's father's job?
Ryan and his father take a trek through the lush bamboo forest accompanied by a young girl named Ling, and her grandpa. By a quirk of fate the two kids get separated from the adults, and here the adventure begins.
Before continuing to view the film, you and your team-mates must read over the tasks for your project and decide who will be responsible for which tasks.
Task #1
YOUR JOB is to keep track of Ryan and Ling as they attempt to save a baby panda from a couple of mean poachers. As you view the video, make a timeline of the adventure beginning with the point where the kids get separated from the adults until they rejoin them.
- List ten events on the timeline in the order that they occur in the story, and discover how one event causes another, which causes yet another, etc. Then retell the whole adventure from the point of view of Jonny, the baby panda.
- Create a storyboard to show the six most important events of the adventure.
