Odyssey Quest - The Process

1. Review the assigned book of the Odyssey.

2. Select six new words from the book and create a flashcard for each word. Write the definition on one side and draw a picture representing the concept on the other.  See the following example:

3. Assume you are a character  in the list below from Homer's Odyssey. 

Penelope Circe Anticleia Telemachus

Poseidon Athena Calypso Polythemus

Hyperion Alcinus Helen Aeolus

Describe your encounter with Odysseus from the point of view of the character.  Include the following:

• Where and when does your encounter with Odysseus take place?

• What is your relationship to Odysseus?

• Describe the conflict between you and Odysseus and explain how it was resolved.

• What lesson does Odysseus learn from this encounter?

4. Do some research to learn more about your character.  You will need to evaluate the sites listed under resources to determine which is the best source of information to satisfy your needs for your final project of this unit. 

5. Create a storyboard depicting what happened in your encounter with Odysseus.

6. Create an Open Mind to show the thoughts and feelings of your character during that encounter. 

7. Use the Venn Diagram to show how your character is similar to or different from yourself.

8. Click on the map below, and locate the city of Athens in Greece. Then find it on the globe in your classroom, and give the longitude and latitude of the city of Athens.

9. Finally, you will pull all of this information together in your final project for this unit.
