We have witnessed the sad plight the victims of
earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and all sorts of natural disasters. This should be a wake-up call to each of us to plan for our
own safety. Since we may not be able to count on an immediate response from
emergency services, we should prepare to be on our own for 3-7 days.
California is a region prone to earthquakes,
wildfires, flash floods, land and mud slides. Add to that the threat
of terrorist strikes against America and pandemics such as H1N1 influenza, and we have much reason to prepare
ourselves for survival in the event of disasters, be it natural, technological or man made.

This WebQuest will help you to do just
that. You will address the question:
How can we keep ourselves safe from
disasters?
This applies not only to us as individuals, but
to our families and communities in which we live as well.
