The Process

Step One:

Divide yourselves into groups of four and decide on who will take which role.

Writer/Poet - Research literary figures of the period.  Collect samples of their works (essays, poems, novels, plays) and analyze how their works reflect or are influenced by events of the historical period.

Artist - Research artists of the period. Collect samples of their works (drawings, paintings. posters. sculpture, architecture) and analyze how their works reflect or are influenced by events of the historical period.

Musician - Research musicians and composers of the period. Collect samples of their works (popular, classical and religious music) and analyze how their works reflect or are influenced by the events of historical period.
Historian - Analyze political and social events of the historical period.  Define what makes that period of history unique.

Step Two:

Work with your team to create a multimedia presentation (starting with the historical perspective) to give background for the creativity of the period. Each team member will use PowerPoint to create his/her portion of the presentation, and the historian will tie it all together into one. The Office Assistant will help you with your presentation if you need it. Simply click on the help button. within the PowerPoint program.

Be sure to document the source of all information, images, sounds, video clips, writings and any other resources that you include in your presentation. Use the Copyright Guidelines for Students to help determine how much of an artist's work is legal to use.

Step Three:

Use the Presentation Guidelines  or Virtual Presentation Assistant to help you prepare your delivery. Practice your presentation together in your group.

Step Four:

Each group will have one class period to present a multimedia presentation of your findings to the class.
