"I AM"
Since we have examined our own self-image through the use of "I am" statements, let us now turn again to the Master of self-image building. According to the Apostle John, the Master Jesus made a number of “I AM” statements. Let us examine his self-image and see how it compares to our own.
“I AM the bread of life...” the living manna come down from heaven (higher realm of Divine ideas) on which we can eternally feed when we come unto the Christ, the “I AM” of our being.
“I AM the light of the world...” - which lights the way out of darkness to the Path of understanding the Truth which sets us free.
“I AM from above...” from a higher vibration on the Stream of Life.
“Before Abraham was I AM.” - existing with the Father from the beginning.
“I AM the good shepherd. . .” - who knows and watches over every one of His sheep with His life.
“I and my Father are one.” - cannot be separated.
“I AM the resurrection and the life...” - the ever flowing Lifestream that never ceases to live.
“I AM the way the truth and the life. . .” - the desire, the means and the fulfillment;.
“I AM in the Father; you are in me, and I Am in you.” - the eternal link between you and the Father within.
“I AM the true vine. . . and you are the branches. . .” - branches stemming from the vine of Truth must bear abundant fruit.
The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary, tells us, “I AM" is God's name in man; it is Jehovah, the indwelling Christ; the true spiritual man whom God made in His image and likeness. The I AM can also be explained as the metaphysical name of the spiritual self. Christ is the Scriptural name for the Spiritual I AM Jesus called it - The Father.”
When the Master Jesus proclaimed, “I AM,” he was not referring to Jesus, the man, but to Christ, the Divinity within him. He Understood well that; the Stream of Life that flows through all existence is the One Infinite Mind from which all things come. This Infinite Mind is through, in and around each one of us, and every time we think we use it. Every time we say, “I AM,” we are making a proclamation of Divine Spirit, and every time we breathe, we breathe the Breath of Life. Jesus understood his relationship to Divine Mind-Spirit-Life, and never in his consciousness did he view himself as separate from it. This, my friends, was the divine message which The Master Jesus came to deliver to us. He taught that what was true for himself was also true for humanity. He taught that the same miracles which he performed could also be performed by us, and even greater ones, If we believe.
“I AM” is a power packed proclamation. Not only does it; proclaim the Divinity within us (about which we should always speak the truth) but it is also an expression of what we believe to be true about ourselves. What; we believe to be true about ourselves is what determines the entire course of our lives. It determines what adventures we embark upon - what goals we pursue - whether we accept success or failure in our lives - whether we accept happiness or misery in our relationships - whether we claim health or illness - abundance or poverty. What we believe to be true about ourselves will determine whether we lead blessed lives or wretched lives.
It is therefore, vitally important that we incorporate into our belief system, the fact that at the point where we stand this very moment and every moment, we are individual expressions of Divine Mind-Spirit-Life. So whenever we proclaim, “I AM” make certain it is followed by an affirmation of Truth, i.e. a positive statement about our true nature, our Inner Being which is perfect and complete in and of itself because it is an expression of God. It does not know lack or poverty; it does not know failure, sickness or strife. It only knows itself which is Good in every aspect.
The "I AM" Wheel
At this time we shall return to our goals and work with the “I AM” Wheel. Within the spokes of the wheel write the desires that you have committed yourself to work on as goals.
Write the one which is most important to you at the top of the wheel, and fill in the others wherever you choose to place them on the wheel.
At the center of the wheel insert the words, “I AM.”
Then write an “I AM” proclamation for each one of the goals in the spokes of your wheel.
Next you will seal your claims to your desires by writing an affirmation or a verse of Scripture around the outside of the wheel. Think of a good one that claims your desires as your own. For example you could write something like: "God is the center and the circumference of my life; my desires, my resources and my fulfillment are all found in God."
You may vary this wheel to suit whatever the need or desire is. but the idea is to claim your desires for your own and seal your claim with an affirmation of TRUTH. You will want to use this wheel each day as a reminder that you are fulfilling your heart's desires. You may want to make several wheels placing desires from different areas of your life on separate wheels, or placing your goals for the week on the wheel. Be sure to date them so that you can keep track of them as they are fulfilled. Then mark each spoke as the desire or goal is fulfilled with the date that it was completed.
Summary
1. Compare your “I am” with the “I AM” of the Master Jesus.
2. Always follow “I AM” with a proclamation of Truth.
3. Use the “I AM” wheel to help realize your goals.
